Version 1 Released!
Hi all,
This is my new Weight System plugin! It's largely meant to be similar to other weight systems you might be familiar with (e.g. Fallout and Elder Scrolls).
The main page for this plugin explains everything from installing, to using the plugin and the video also includes a showcase.
So for this devlog, I figured I'd add any disclaimers and noteworthy bits of information that didn't need adding to the main page.
The only disclaimer is that for V1, weight is only calculated from items in your inventory and items equipped to the player. It won't calculate weight based on things equipped to party members.
The other noteworthy things are that I'll likely be adding additional functionality in later versions such as:
- Being able to choose whether switch and variable states are reverted when you're no longer over-encumbered. Currently, when you're over-encumbered and you choose to enable a switch or set a variable, the plugin always reverts these changes when you're no longer over-encumbered. I feel like this is the desired behaviour for the most part but there might be people who don't want to revert these changes.
- I've got at least one other plugin/project idea that relies on this plugin for it to be necessary too. I've not started work on this yet nor do I plan to anytime soon (I'm taking a well-deserved break :P )
- Optimisations - The way the plugin tells if your inventory has changed (which triggers a encumberment check) isn't very efficient currently. Luckily it's efficient enough to where you're not going to notice any performance decreases but, I know there's improvements I can make anyway.
